Hematology & Oncology Fellowship

The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School is a three-year ACGME-accredited fellowship providing comprehensive training in adult hematology and medical oncology. Fellows gain clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of hematologic diseases and cancer, including inpatient consultation, malignant hematology, solid tumors, leukemia, and bone marrow transplantation. Training also includes procedures such as chemotherapy administration and bone marrow biopsy, along with rotations in hematopathology, transfusion medicine, radiation oncology, gynecologic oncology, and palliative care. Fellows participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, case conferences, journal clubs, teaching, and clinical or laboratory-based research, with the option to pursue a dedicated research track.

1. Submit the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Submit the Common Application Form.
3. Submit an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
4. Submit a Personal Statement.
5. Provide a minimum of three Letters of Recommendation, preferably from Hematology-Oncology faculty; one should be from the current Program Director.
6. Submit the Dean's Letter/MSPE.
7. Submit medical school transcripts.
8. Submit USMLE or COMLEX scores.
9. International Medical Graduates must additionally provide their ECFMG Certificate, examination scores, U.S. clinical experience, and visa documentation.
10. Eligible applications are screened by the Hematology-Oncology Division.
11. Selected applicants are invited for an interview with the Program Director, Division Chief, and/or faculty.
12. Applicants are ranked after the interview process, and the final rank list is submitted to the NRMP.
