Hematology & Oncology Fellowship

1. MD or DO from an accredited medical school
2. Completion of Internal Medicine residency (ACGME-accredited)
3. Passing USMLE/COMLEX Step scores
4. Pennsylvania medical licensure eligibility prior to fellowship start
5. Submission of application materials (CV, personal statement, letters of recommendation)
6. Participation in the interview and selection process

The Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship at Reading Hospital – Tower Health provides advanced subspecialty training to equip physicians with the clinical skills, judgment, and expertise required in modern cancer and hematologic care. Fellows participate in multidisciplinary care with oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, palliative care, and surgical teams to manage patients with hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, bone marrow disorders, and complex coagulopathies. The curriculum includes clinical rotations in inpatient consultative services, outpatient oncology clinics, infusion centers, bone marrow transplant support services, and specialized hematology clinics. Fellows master evidence-based chemotherapy administration, novel targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and supportive care protocols while gaining experience in clinical research design, quality improvement, and academic teaching. Structured didactic sessions, tumor board conferences, journal clubs, and mentorship by experienced faculty enhance clinical reasoning and scholarly development. Graduates are prepared for board certification in Hematology and Medical Oncology and are equipped for careers in academic medicine, clinical practice, or continued research.
