Hematology & Oncology Fellowship

• Must have completed an ABIM-approved Internal Medicine Residency Program in a U.S. hospital
• Must hold an MD or equivalent medical degree
• Must be eligible for Internal Medicine board certification
• International medical graduates must have an appropriate U.S. visa status (usually J-1 visa) that allows completion of the 3-year fellowship training
• Must submit required application credentials through ERAS, including:
• Completed application form
• Three letters of recommendation
• Dean’s letter
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Personal statement
• Medical school transcript
• USMLE scores
• ECFMG certification (if applicable)
• Illinois medical license (if applicable)
• J visa copy (if applicable)

The Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM), Chicago is a 3-year ACGME-accredited fellowship program designed to provide comprehensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of hematologic disorders and malignant diseases. The program offers extensive clinical exposure in both inpatient and outpatient settings, covering areas such as solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, benign hematology, cancer prevention, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive cancer care. Fellows receive advanced training through multidisciplinary patient care, clinical conferences, research activities, and participation in clinical trials. The program emphasizes the development of clinical expertise, research skills, and academic leadership, preparing graduates for careers in medical oncology, hematology practice, and academic medicine.
