Hematology & Oncology Fellowship

1. Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
2. Satisfactory performance on USMLE/COMLEX licensing exams
3. Application through ERAS with required documentation (CV, personal statement, and recommendations)
4. Participation in the NRMP fellowship match process using program code 1555614001
5. Applicants requiring J-1 or H-1B visa sponsorship are not accepted (only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are typically considered)

The Hematology & Oncology Fellowship at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center is a three-year, ACGME-accredited advanced fellowship designed to train physicians as specialists in both medical oncology and hematology. The program emphasizes a comprehensive educational experience combining clinical care, procedural proficiency, multidisciplinary collaboration, and scholarly activity. Fellows rotate through diverse clinical exposures including inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology services, coagulation consults, palliative medicine, precision oncology, and high-volume chemotherapy management. Educational activities include tumor boards, daily teaching rounds, journal clubs, and specialty conferences that foster evidence-based practice. The fellowship operates within the Aurora Cancer Care system — serving thousands of new cancer cases annually and spanning multiple referral and community sites — allowing trainees to gain experience across a wide spectrum of hematologic and oncologic conditions. Graduates are prepared for board certification in both hematology and medical oncology as well as careers in academic or clinical practice.
