The General Surgery Residency Program at Sky Ridge Medical Center is a comprehensive five-year postgraduate surgical training designed to produce competent and compassionate surgeons. The curriculum offers progressive responsibilities in operative skills, patient management, trauma care, surgical ICU rotations, outpatient surgical clinics, and multidisciplinary conferences. Residents rotate through major surgical subspecialties including emergency surgery, vascular surgery, minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures, and critical patient care settings. Structured teaching sessions, simulation labs, morbidity and mortality conferences, journal clubs, and board review activities are integrated into the program. Under experienced surgical faculty supervision, residents gain experience in pre-operative evaluation, technical surgical skills, post-operative care, and leadership in multidisciplinary teams. Graduates of the program are well prepared for board certification and independent practice in general surgery or further fellowship training.
