Fellowship Program in Breast Imaging

1. Completion of an eligible Diagnostic Radiology Residency.
2. Eligibility for or certification by the American Board of Radiology.
3. Hold or be eligible for a permanent medical licence in Connecticut.
4. Provide evidence of valid United States work authorisation.
5. Meet Yale's employment and medical appointment requirements.

The Breast Imaging Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine, Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, provides advanced clinical training in the diagnosis and management of breast diseases. Fellows gain extensive experience in screening and diagnostic mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging and image-guided breast procedures. The programme provides exposure to advanced imaging technologies and multidisciplinary breast cancer care at Yale New Haven Hospital and affiliated clinical facilities. Academic training includes weekly lectures through the Breast Imaging Fellowship Consortium, additional faculty teaching sessions, fortnightly breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging conferences, radiology and pathology conferences, monthly case discussions and tumour board presentations. Fellows also gain opportunities to participate in clinical research and collaborative academic activities.

1. Applications for the 2028–2029 academic year are accepted from 1 October 2026 to 6 January 2027.
2. Apply through the Society of Breast Imaging's centralised application service, FellowshipsCAS.
3. Submit the completed application form.
4. Upload the curriculum vitae and one-page personal statement.
5. Submit medical school transcripts or the Dean's Letter.
6. Provide three signed recommendation letters on official letterhead, including one from the residency programme director.
7. Submit United States Medical Licensing Examination Steps One, Two and Three score reports.
8. Provide the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certificate, if applicable.
9. Shortlisted candidates are invited for virtual interviews between 11 January and 31 March 2027.
10. Final selection is conducted through the National Resident Matching Program.
