Fellowship Program in Breast Imaging

1. Applicants should have completed Diagnostic Radiology residency training before entering the Breast Imaging Fellowship.
2. Applicants must meet the requirements for board certification or board eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology.
3. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Alabama.
4. Applicants must submit the required application materials, including a curriculum vitae, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX) transcript, medical school transcript, and all board scores.

The UAB Breast Imaging Fellowship Program provides one year of advanced training in comprehensive breast imaging and image-guided procedures. Fellows gain extensive experience in screening and diagnostic mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, contrast-enhanced mammography, and breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The fellowship includes hands-on training in ultrasound-guided, stereotactic, tomosynthesis-guided, contrast-enhanced mammography-guided, and MRI-guided breast biopsies and localizations. Fellows progressively take on greater clinical responsibility under faculty supervision and participate in multidisciplinary breast conferences, teaching activities, and research opportunities. The program's high clinical volume provides broad exposure to routine screening, diagnostic evaluations, complex breast disease, and interventional procedures.
