Fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease

1. MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
2. Completed ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency
3. Valid USMLE/COMLEX results
4. ECFMG certification (if applicable)
5. Pennsylvania medical licensure eligibility prior to fellowship start
6. Submission of fellowship application materials via ERAS (CV, personal statement, letters of recommendation)
7. Interview and selection by the program faculty.

The Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is an ACGME-accredited three-year subspecialty training program designed to prepare physicians for board certification and advanced practice in pediatric infectious diseases. The fellowship provides a rich clinical experience caring for infants, children, and adolescents with a wide spectrum of infectious conditions — from common bacterial and viral illnesses to complex infections in immunocompromised hosts. Fellows rotate through inpatient infectious disease consult services and outpatient clinics, gaining expertise in diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of infections. The program features structured participation in the hospital’s antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention programs, involvement with full-service microbiology and virology laboratories, and access to multidisciplinary care with specialists across oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Fellows receive individualized mentorship, research training tailored to career goals (including epidemiology, public health, HIV, and policy work), and opportunities for scholarly activity integrated into clinical training. Graduates are prepared to become leaders in clinical care, academic practice, public health, and research in pediatric infectious diseases.
