Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology

1. Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
2. Overseas applicants holding a J-1 visa may be considered if they have been training in a United States or Canadian residency program for at least 2 years.
3. Applicants requiring an H-1B visa are not accepted.
4. All applicants must be eligible for a California Medical License.
5. Applicants must verify that their medical school is included on the list of medical schools recognized by the Medical Board of California.
6. Selection is based on factors including test scores, academic achievements, and letters of recommendation.

Stanford Medicine Health Care (SHC) is an academic healthcare institution affiliated with Stanford University, providing advanced patient care, medical education, and clinical research. It offers specialized training programs across a wide range of medical disciplines. The Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology is a three-year program that provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal, hepatic, and nutritional disorders in children. Fellows receive extensive clinical experience through inpatient and outpatient services, including exposure to liver transplantation, while the later years provide opportunities for research, scholarly activities, and teaching. The program prepares fellows for careers in academic medicine, clinical practice, and pediatric gastroenterology research.

1. Applications are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) beginning in July, one year before the anticipated fellowship start date.
2. Submit a completed ERAS application.
3. Provide 2–4 letters of recommendation, including one from the residency program director. At least one letter from a Pediatric Gastroenterology faculty member is recommended.
4. Submit the medical school transcript, including the Dean's letter.
5. Submit the Curriculum Vitae.
6. Submit a personal statement.
7. Applications are reviewed only after all required documents have been received.
8. The application completion deadline is the first Wednesday of August; applications submitted after the deadline are generally not accepted.
9. Selected applicants are contacted by the program coordinator for an interview.
10. Participate in the half-day virtual interview, generally scheduled between August and October.
11. Applicant review and rank-list finalization take place in November, followed by Match Day in mid-December.
