The Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine provides three years of specialized training in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders in infants, children, and adolescents. Fellows receive comprehensive clinical training through inpatient consultations, outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary programs, and procedural experiences, including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, liver biopsy, capsule endoscopy, and other pediatric gastrointestinal procedures. The program also provides exposure to inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, intestinal rehabilitation, nutrition, eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders, and pancreatic diseases, along with opportunities for research and academic development.
