The Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School is a 3-year fellowship providing comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and nutritional disorders in children. The program combines clinical training, gastroenterological procedures, nutritional support, and basic or clinical research. Fellows receive inpatient and outpatient experience, including endoscopy, and have exposure to specialized areas such as pancreatic disease, liver disease and transplantation, pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal rehabilitation, weight management, and eosinophilic diseases. The program generally includes 1 year of clinical training followed by 2 years focused primarily on clinical or basic research, with minimal clinical responsibilities during the research years.
