Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (FPEM)

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School provides advanced clinical and academic training in the care of high-acuity pediatric emergency patients. The program includes weekly PEM conferences, simulation, didactic teaching, hands-on workshops, research, quality-improvement projects and progressive clinical and supervisory responsibilities. Fellows also receive close faculty mentorship and opportunities to develop focused interests in areas such as ultrasound, simulation and medical education. The program provides training in a 20-bed pediatric emergency department with approximately 25,000 annual visits and a diverse, high-acuity patient population.

1. Review eligibility for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship and Massachusetts medical licensure.
2. Submit the fellowship application according to the program's application requirements.
3. Applications are reviewed by the fellowship program, and selected candidates are invited for interviews.
4. Participate in the fellowship interview process; UMass states that interviews are conducted virtually.
5. Participate in the applicable National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match.
6. Successful candidates receive fellowship appointment and complete the required GME credentialing, licensing and employment requirements before joining.
