Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (FPEM)

1. MD or DO from an accredited medical school
2. Completion of an accredited Pediatrics residency
3. Valid USMLE/COMLEX Step exam results
4. Pennsylvania medical licensure eligibility prior to fellowship start
5. Submission of fellowship application materials (CV, personal statement, letters of recommendation)
6. Interview selection and ranking through the ACGME match or program selection process

The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is an ACGME-accredited two-year advanced training program that prepares physicians to provide expert care in pediatric emergency settings. Fellows rotate through high-volume pediatric emergency departments, trauma teams, resuscitation suites, observation units, and specialty emergency clinics, gaining proficiency in critical care stabilization, procedural skills, advanced airway management, pediatric trauma care, and rapid diagnostic decision-making. Training emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient safety, effective communication in acute scenarios, and teamwork with interdisciplinary emergency medicine and pediatric critical care teams. Fellows participate in didactic conferences, simulation training, journal clubs, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly projects under the mentorship of experienced pediatric emergency clinicians. Graduates are equipped for board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and careers in academic medicine, tertiary care pediatric emergency departments, and regional referral centers.
