Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease (Cardiology) Fellowship.
2. Eligibility for unrestricted or training medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
3. Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
4. Application through ERAS or institutional fellowship application process.
5. Strong procedural experience, academic record, and letters of recommendation from cardiology faculty.

The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is an intensive one-year advanced training program designed to produce highly skilled interventional cardiologists. The fellowship provides comprehensive hands-on exposure to coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions, complex lesion management, intravascular imaging, hemodynamic assessment, and mechanical circulatory support devices. Fellows train in high-volume cardiac catheterization laboratories at OU Health, managing both elective and emergent cardiovascular cases. The program emphasizes patient safety, procedural competence, clinical decision-making, and adherence to evidence-based guidelines. Structured didactics, case conferences, morbidity and mortality reviews, and research involvement are integral components of training. Fellows also participate in multidisciplinary heart team discussions and quality improvement initiatives. Graduates are prepared for independent interventional practice, academic cardiology roles, and eligibility for subspecialty board certification in Interventional Cardiology.
