Fellowship in Gynecological Oncology

1. Must be eligible for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
2. Must hold a state medical license.
3. Must have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
4. Strong clinical and surgical ability is valued during the selection process.
5. Demonstrated interest or ability in basic, translational, and/or clinical research is highly valued.

The UAB Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship is a three-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited program designed to prepare fellows for academic careers in gynecologic oncology. The fellowship includes 12 months of protected research training and 24 months of clinical training, with extensive experience in the evaluation and management of malignant and complex gynecologic conditions. Fellows develop advanced skills in open and minimally invasive surgery, multidisciplinary cancer care, chemotherapy, radiation oncology, and clinical research. The program also provides structured education through tumor boards, journal clubs, didactic conferences, and research mentorship, with opportunities to participate in basic, translational, and clinical research.

1. Register and apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Submit a current curriculum vitae (CV).
3. Submit a Program Director letter.
4. Submit three letters of recommendation, including one Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE).
5. Submit a personal statement and photograph.
6. Applications are reviewed by the fellowship selection committee.
7. Selected applicants are invited for an interview with the fellowship director, faculty, and current fellows.
8. The program has 2 first-year fellowship positions.
