Fellowship in Gastroenterology

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
2. Eligibility for unrestricted or training medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
3. Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
4. Application submission through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
5. Participation in the NRMP Fellowship Match.
6. Strong academic background, procedural interest, and letters of recommendation in support of gastroenterology training.

The Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a comprehensive three-year super-specialty training program designed to produce expert gastroenterologists and hepatologists. The program provides in-depth exposure to inpatient and outpatient gastrointestinal care, including advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Fellows receive structured training in upper and lower GI endoscopy, ERCP exposure, liver disease management, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal motility disorders, pancreatic and biliary diseases, and GI oncology. Clinical training occurs at major tertiary care hospitals affiliated with OU Health, offering experience with complex referral cases and diverse patient populations. The fellowship emphasizes evidence-based medicine, procedural competence, academic scholarship, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Fellows actively participate in clinical research, journal clubs, teaching activities, and national conferences. Graduates are well prepared for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification in Gastroenterology and for careers in academic medicine, tertiary care hospitals, or advanced subspecialty practice.
