Fellowship in Gastroenterology

The UCSF Gastroenterology Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited 3-year advanced subspecialty training program focused on comprehensive clinical and research training in gastroenterology and hepatology. The program provides extensive exposure to gastrointestinal and liver diseases through rotations at UCSF Medical Center, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Fellows receive advanced training in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal oncology, motility disorders, liver transplantation, and other digestive health specialties. The fellowship offers two pathways — Clinical Educator Track and Research Track — allowing fellows to develop expertise for careers in clinical practice, medical education, or academic research.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
2. Register and participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Fellowship Match
3. Submit required application documents through ERAS, including:

5. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
6. Personal Statement (including career goals and research interests)
7. Three Letters of Recommendation in addition to the current Program Director letter
8. Additional research supervisor letter (recommended for applicants with prior research experience)
4. Applications are reviewed by the UCSF Gastroenterology Fellowship Selection Committee
5. Selected candidates are invited for interviews
6. Final selection is completed through the NRMP Match process
