Fellowship in Gastroenterology

• Must have an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
• Must have completed an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program
• Must be eligible for Internal Medicine board certification before starting the fellowship
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must meet U.S. training requirements and have required certifications, including ECFMG certification where applicable
• Must fulfill U.S. medical licensing requirements for fellowship training
• Applicants should demonstrate strong interest in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, clinical care, research, and academic medicine

The Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is an advanced subspecialty training program designed to develop expert physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases. The program provides comprehensive clinical training in gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, and related subspecialty areas including inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal oncology, nutrition, neurogastroenterology, and therapeutic endoscopy. Fellows receive training through inpatient gastroenterology consult services, hepatology services, outpatient specialty clinics, and endoscopic procedures. The fellowship also emphasizes clinical research, translational research, teaching skills, and academic development through mentorship and dedicated research opportunities, preparing fellows for careers as academic clinicians, educators, and physician-scientists
