About Course

The Allergy & Immunology Fellowship at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine is a prestigious ACGME-accredited two-year subspecialty training program dedicated to developing highly skilled allergists, immunologists, and physician-scientists. The fellowship combines comprehensive clinical training, structured educational activities, and meaningful research opportunities.
The program is jointly administered by the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, allowing fellows to gain balanced experience in caring for both adult and pediatric patients. This integrated approach prepares graduates for broad clinical practice and board certification in Allergy and Immunology.
Clinical training takes place primarily at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, a recognized referral center for complex allergic and immunologic diseases. Fellows encounter a diverse patient population and a wide range of common and rare conditions.
During the first year, fellows participate in multiple outpatient clinics each week and actively manage inpatient consultation services. Under faculty supervision, they gradually assume responsibility for diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term patient management.
The second year focuses on advanced clinical decision-making, scholarly activity, and preparation for board certification. Fellows continue outpatient and inpatient responsibilities while expanding their expertise in clinical immunology and research.
A major strength of the fellowship is its strong research component. Fellows are encouraged to pursue clinical, translational, or basic science projects and receive mentorship from experienced faculty investigators. Research findings are frequently presented at national scientific meetings.
Educational activities include grand rounds, board review sessions, journal clubs, multidisciplinary conferences, case discussions, quality improvement conferences, and core basic science lectures. These activities support both clinical excellence and academic development.
Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic medicine, private practice, research, clinical immunology, and leadership roles within allergy and immunology programs.
