About Course

The University of Colorado Family Medicine Residency is a 3-year residency program offering two distinct training tracks: the University Track and Denver Health Track. Both tracks provide broad training in comprehensive family medicine, including primary care, inpatient medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, obstetrics, behavioral health, chronic disease management, preventive care, procedures, population health, advocacy and community engagement. Residents complete the same core rotations for most of their training while gaining experience across clinics and hospitals serving diverse communities in Denver, Aurora and surrounding areas. The program prepares graduates for clinical practice, academic leadership, community advocacy and lifelong learning.

Admission Process

Applications are accepted only through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application System)
Applicants should submit the ERAS application, CV, MSPE/Dean’s Letter, medical school transcript, USMLE/COMLEX Steps 1 and 2 transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation, and personal statement
The personal statement must explain why the University of Colorado Family Medicine Residency is a good fit for the applicant and their career goals
Applicants are asked to use program signaling in ERAS
The program offers two tracks: University Track and Denver Health Track; applicants can be considered for both tracks
Applications are reviewed using a holistic approach
Selected applicants are invited to virtual interviews, generally held from late October through December
Final selection is conducted through the applicable residency matching process
