The Family Medicine Residency at Delnor, offered through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and McGaw Medical Center, is a community-based academic residency program designed to train highly skilled family physicians capable of delivering comprehensive, evidence-based, and patient-centered care. Located in Geneva, Illinois, the program combines the strengths of a major academic health system with the close-knit environment of a community hospital. Residents receive extensive outpatient and inpatient training while managing patients across the entire lifespan, from newborns to older adults. The curriculum emphasizes continuity of care, preventive medicine, chronic disease management, behavioral health integration, sports medicine, palliative care, women's health, and population health. Training occurs primarily at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, a 159-bed acute-care facility, and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, providing exposure to a wide variety of patient populations and clinical settings. Residents participate in leadership development, quality improvement projects, scholarly activities, physician wellness initiatives, and interprofessional education. The program also offers opportunities to pursue the Feinberg Clinical Scholars Program and additional academic development pathways. Graduates are well prepared for board certification, community practice, academic medicine, hospital leadership roles, and fellowship training in family medicine subspecialties.
