Overview
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at UMass Chan Medical School is a 3-year residency program providing comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of acute and life-threatening conditions. Residents gain hands-on experience in trauma, critical care, medical and surgical emergencies, pediatric emergencies, toxicology, emergency ultrasound, EMS and disaster medicine. Training includes clinical rotations, simulation, didactic education, research and progressive responsibility in a high-volume emergency department, including a Level I Trauma Center.

Eligibility
- Medical degree: Graduate of a U.S./Canadian LCME- or AOA-accredited medical school, or an international medical school with a valid ECFMG Certificate before appointment
- USMLE/COMLEX: Passing USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, or equivalent COMLEX examinations
- IMGs: Must hold a valid ECFMG Certificate
- Applicants must satisfy Massachusetts medical licensure requirements
- Non-U.S. citizens must hold an eligible J-1, F-1 or H-1B visa where applicable
- Applicants must meet UMass Chan GME credentialing, employee health and technical standards requirements

Admission Process:
- Apply through ERAS as the program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service
- Submit the required application materials, including academic records, examination scores, CV, personal statement and recommendation letters
- Qualified applicants are selected for interviews
- Participate in the NRMP Match, as applicable
- Candidates who match must complete UMass Chan GME credentialing, licensing and pre-employment requirements before appointment
