Emergency Medicine Residency Program

The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Keck School of Medicine of USC/Los Angeles General Medical Center is a four-year residency providing comprehensive training in emergency and critical care for adults and children. Residents train in a high-acuity Level I Trauma Center and county safety-net hospital, with progressive responsibility throughout the four years. The curriculum includes emergency medicine, trauma and resuscitation, emergency ultrasound, critical care, toxicology, EMS, pediatric emergency medicine, obstetrics, anesthesia, orthopedics and community emergency medicine. Residents also receive extensive procedural training, protected weekly didactics, simulation and leadership opportunities, with increasing responsibility for patient flow, resuscitation teams, teaching and clinical operations in the senior years.

1. Apply through ERAS.
2. Participate in the NRMP Match.
3. Submit the completed ERAS application.
4. Provide the Dean's Letter/MSPE.
5. Submit 3 letters of recommendation, including at least 1 Emergency Medicine SLOE.
6. Submit medical school transcript.
7. Submit USMLE scores for MD applicants or COMLEX scores for DO applicants.
8. Submit personal statement and CV.
9. Provide visa status, if applicable.
10. IMG applicants must additionally provide their diploma with translation, valid ECFMG certificate, USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores, and the required California Medical Board documentation.
11. Applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis and selected candidates are invited for interviews.
