Emergency Medicine Residency Program

• Must hold an MD or DO degree (or international equivalent such as MBBS) from a recognized medical school
• Open to allopathic, osteopathic, and international medical graduates (IMGs)
• Must have USMLE Step 1 (or COMLEX Level 1) and Step 2 (or equivalent) scores; Step 2 must be passed before ranking
• Should have strong academic performance and clinical background
• Must submit required documents: CV, personal statement, medical school transcript, Dean’s letter, and 3 letters of recommendation
• Must be eligible for ECFMG certification (for international applicants)
• Should be eligible for U.S. residency training/licensure
• Preference for candidates with interest in emergency medicine, leadership qualities, and commitment to patient care

The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is a 4-year ACGME-accredited training program focused on developing expertise in the rapid assessment and management of acute and life-threatening conditions. The program provides comprehensive training through high-volume emergency department exposure, hands-on experience in trauma care, critical care, resuscitation, and emergency procedures, and a strong emphasis on simulation-based learning and research. Residents work with diverse patient populations and complex cases while gaining skills in clinical decision-making, leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration, preparing them for careers in emergency medicine practice, subspecialty fellowships, or academic medicine.
