The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a prestigious four-year ACGME-accredited training program that prepares physicians to provide exceptional emergency care in diverse and high-acuity clinical environments. Based primarily at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, one of the busiest tertiary-care academic medical centers in the United States, the program offers extensive exposure to a wide range of medical, surgical, traumatic, pediatric, neurological, cardiovascular, and critical care emergencies. Residents work closely with multidisciplinary teams and gain hands-on experience in advanced resuscitation, airway management, point-of-care ultrasound, trauma care, emergency procedures, disaster preparedness, and emergency department operations. Clinical training is supplemented by a comprehensive educational curriculum that includes simulation-based learning, weekly conferences, morbidity and mortality reviews, journal clubs, procedural workshops, ultrasound education, and board preparation sessions. Additional training opportunities are available through Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and specialized critical care services. The program strongly emphasizes leadership development, scholarly activity, quality improvement, patient safety, and innovation in emergency medicine. Residents are encouraged to participate in clinical research and educational projects under the mentorship of nationally recognized faculty. Graduates are exceptionally well prepared for American Board of Emergency Medicine certification, advanced fellowships, academic careers, community emergency medicine practice, critical care medicine, and healthcare administration.
