Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program

The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center is a rigorous, five-year postgraduate medical training program designed to prepare physicians for board-certified careers in diagnostic imaging. Accredited by the ACGME and recognized by national radiology boards, the curriculum combines one year of foundational clinical training with four years of in-depth radiology education. Residents participate in rotations covering all major imaging modalities — including neuroradiology, body imaging, thoracic imaging, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, cardiovascular imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, women’s imaging, interventional radiology, and pediatric radiology — with structured exposure to both common and complex diagnostic scenarios. The program emphasizes clinical competence, interpretative excellence, research engagement, and preparation for board certification. Didactic conferences, case reviews, multidisciplinary tumor boards, and simulation experiences supplement clinical rotations. Residents gain experience with state-of-the-art imaging equipment and technologies, and the program supports elective time for residents to pursue individualized academic interests. Graduates are trained for careers in private practice, academic radiology, and advanced fellowship subspecialties.

1. Ensure Eligibility: Complete medical school and required licensing exam steps (USMLE/COMLEX).
2. Preliminary Clinical Year: Complete a Transitional Year or equivalent year of clinical training.
3. Submit ERAS Application: Provide transcripts, personal statement, CV, evaluations, letters of recommendation, and exam scores.
4. Interview Invitation: Selected applicants are invited for interviews, typically between November and January.
5. NRMP Match Participation: Applicants participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) to rank and match with the program.
6. Match Results: Candidates receive match results on NRMP Match Day.
7. Orientation & Onboarding: Accepted candidates complete credentialing, orientation, and pre-residency onboarding protocols.
