Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS Ongole) was established in 2011 as a government medical institute. The institute is affiliated to NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijaywada (NTRUHS) and is approved by Medical Council of India (MCI). The erstwhile District Headquarters Hospital, Ongole with 200 beds was taken over under the administrative control of Director, RIMS, Ongole from 01-10-2008 and shifted to New RIMS premises at Bhagya nagar with 300 beds.
