Pediatric Residency Program

The General Pediatrics Residency Program at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a fully accredited, university-based training program conducted in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and other affiliated pediatric centers. It provides a comprehensive and broad clinical education through structured rotations in inpatient, outpatient, and subspecialty pediatrics, allowing residents to gain hands-on experience in managing a wide spectrum of pediatric conditions, from routine child health care to complex and critical illnesses. The program emphasizes a supportive learning environment with strong mentorship, academic teaching, and research opportunities, while focusing on delivering compassionate, high-quality care to diverse and underserved populations in the community. Training across multiple major pediatric hospitals further enhances clinical exposure and prepares residents for careers in general pediatrics, hospital medicine, or pediatric subspecialties.

3. Applications are reviewed holistically by the program

5. Final selection is done through the NRMP (Match process)
6. Selected candidates join the program based on Match results and visa/credential verification
