The Pediatrics Residency Program at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children provides a rich and immersive training environment focused on developing excellent pediatric clinicians, educators, and advocates. Residents gain clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient pediatric care, working with diverse patient populations and across a broad spectrum of childhood diseases and conditions. A unique strength of the program is the emphasis on advocacy, with dedicated rotations and community engagement activities woven throughout training. The curriculum includes structured educational conferences, supervised patient care, mentorship, and leadership development. Residents also choose career-aligned pathways — such as Primary Care, Inpatient Medicine, or Consultative — to tailor their experience based on professional goals. In addition to patient care, the program supports scholarship through research, quality improvement, and educational projects. Senior residents also gain experience teaching and mentoring medical students. Graduates are prepared for careers in general pediatrics, academic medicine, or competitive fellowship training.
