Pathology Residency Rotations

1. Currently enrolled in an accredited pathology residency program (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or Anatomic Pathology)
2. Active resident status in good standing at home institution
3. Scheduled rotation approval from home residency and Lurie Children’s Pathology department
4. Compliance with Lurie Children’s credentialing and onboarding requirements for visiting residents.

Pathology Residency Rotations at Lurie Children’s offer pediatric pathology experiences for residents from affiliated and visiting pathology residency programs. Residents rotating through this program gain hands-on exposure to pediatric anatomic pathology, including surgical pathology, autopsy pathology, neuropathology, cytology, hematopathology, and advanced molecular diagnostic techniques tailored to pediatric specimens. Lectures, slide sessions, and interdepartmental conferences are part of the educational experience, helping trainees interpret and communicate complex pathologic findings. Additionally, residents may participate in Laboratory Medicine rotations, which include clinical laboratory services such as clinical chemistry, hematology and blood bank investigations, immunology, flow cytometry, microbiology, genetics, and molecular diagnostics — with didactics and case presentations facilitated by expert faculty committed to resident education.
