Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program

The Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program at UCSF School of Medicine is a five-year ACGME-accredited residency providing comprehensive training across all major ENT subspecialties. Residents receive progressive clinical and surgical responsibility through rotations in otology, rhinology, laryngology, facial plastic surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, head and neck oncology, skull base surgery, sleep surgery, and trauma care across multiple UCSF-affiliated hospitals. The program combines high-complexity clinical and operative experience with structured didactic teaching, simulation and specialty courses, mentored research, and global health opportunities. By the final year, residents take on significant supervisory and leadership responsibilities and are prepared for independent practice, academic careers, or advanced fellowship training in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery.

3. Selected candidates are invited for interviews
4. Final selection is done via the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP Match)
5. Matched candidates begin residency training as per the academic cycle
