Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program

• Must hold an MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Must meet all UC Irvine Graduate Medical Education (GME) eligibility requirements.
• Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
• Must provide USMLE transcripts as part of the application.
• Must submit all required supporting documents, including letters of recommendation, MSPE (Dean's Letter), and medical school transcripts.

The Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a five-year ACGME-accredited residency program that provides comprehensive training in the medical and surgical management of disorders affecting the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. Residents receive extensive clinical and operative experience in all major subspecialties, including head and neck oncology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, otology/neurotology, rhinology and skull base surgery, laryngology, pediatric otolaryngology, sleep surgery, and endocrine surgery. Training is conducted at UC Irvine Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), the VA Long Beach Healthcare System, and affiliated clinical sites, providing exposure to a diverse patient population and complex surgical cases. The program also emphasizes research, multidisciplinary conferences, simulation training, resident education, and academic development, preparing graduates for independent practice or advanced fellowship training in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery.
