The Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a five-year ACGME-accredited residency that provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and management of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. Residents receive extensive clinical and operative experience across all major orthopedic subspecialties, including adult reconstruction, trauma, sports medicine, spine surgery, hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, pediatric orthopedics, orthopedic oncology, and musculoskeletal medicine. Training takes place at UC Irvine Medical Center, VA Long Beach Healthcare System, Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), and affiliated clinical sites, with a curriculum that includes didactic lectures, simulation training, research opportunities, journal clubs, cadaveric skills laboratories, and multidisciplinary conferences. The program prepares graduates for independent orthopedic practice or advanced fellowship training.
