Neurology Residency Program

The Neurology Residency Program at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of a broad range of neurological disorders through inpatient, outpatient, emergency, consultation, and subspecialty rotations. Residents gain experience in areas including stroke, epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, movement disorders, neuroimmunology, neuro-oncology, neurocritical care, and cognitive disorders. The program combines clinical training with daily neuroscience education, conferences, procedural training, research opportunities, and mentorship, preparing residents for fellowship training, academic careers, research, or comprehensive neurological practice.

1. Submit the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Applications submitted through other methods are not accepted.
3. Submit the required application materials, including academic credentials, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and examination scores.
4. Applications must be submitted by October 6.
5. The Program Director and Program Coordinator review applications and select candidates for interviews based on factors such as United States Medical Licensing Examination scores, academic credentials, personal statement, and letters of recommendation.
6. Selected applicants participate in virtual interviews with the Department Chair, Program Director, and Neurology faculty.
7. Residency positions are filled through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
