Hematology & Oncology Fellowship

1. Applicants must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
2. Applicants must have completed or be completing residency training in Internal Medicine and intend to obtain board certification in Internal Medicine.
3. Applicants are assessed on their academic qualifications, clinical competence, overall preparedness, communication skills, motivation, and professional integrity.
4. Candidates with long-term career goals in academic medicine, hematology, and medical oncology are particularly encouraged.
5. International medical graduates must obtain certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
6. International medical graduates generally must enter the program on a J-1 visa, unless they meet the stated exemption criteria as United States citizens or holders of an Alien Registration Card or Employment Authorization Document (EAD).

7. Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) or Dean’s Letter.
8. United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or equivalent examination score report. All required examination steps must be passed before fellowship admission.
9. Three letters of recommendation from faculty members or attending physicians familiar with the applicant’s recent experience. Letters must have been written within six months of the application.
10. Visa or Green Card documentation, when applicable. A photocopy may be submitted after a fellowship position is offered.
11. Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) documentation for international medical graduates.
3. Submit the application between July 1 and July 31 of the year before the fellowship begins.
4. Selected applicants are invited to interview with faculty members, typically during September and October.
5. The selection committee evaluates applicants based on previous training, clinical competence, academic potential, communication skills, motivation, and suitability for a career in hematology and medical oncology.
6. Successful applicants are selected approximately seven to ten months before the fellowship begins on July 1.
