Hematology & Oncology Fellowship

1. Applicants must have completed an Internal Medicine residency program before starting the fellowship.
2. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of Stanford Graduate Medical Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
3. Applicants must be eligible to obtain a California medical license before the fellowship start date.
4. The program accepts applicants interested in Hematology, Medical Oncology, or combined Hematology and Medical Oncology training.
5. Applicants should demonstrate appropriate academic and clinical preparation; previous research experience is beneficial, particularly for the Traditional Research Track.

The Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program is a three-year fellowship that provides advanced training in the evaluation and management of patients with benign and malignant blood disorders and cancer. Fellows receive comprehensive clinical training in hematology and oncology, along with exposure to bone marrow transplantation, cellular therapies, transfusion medicine, and palliative care. The program also provides protected opportunities for clinical, translational, and laboratory-based research, preparing fellows for careers in academic medicine, clinical practice, and research.

1. Submit the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) using the Stanford program code 1550514002.
2. Applications open in July; the program does not accept applications after the stated August deadline.
3. Submit a completed application with a personal statement outlining career plans, research experience, and future research interests.
4. Submit United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) transcripts.
5. Submit an updated Curriculum Vitae.
6. Submit 3–4 letters of recommendation as specified by the program.
7. A photograph may be submitted but is optional.
8. A medical school transcript is not required by the program.
9. Applications are reviewed and selected candidates are invited for interviews.
10. Applicants may rank the Traditional Research Track and/or Pathway Track through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
11. Final candidate selection is completed through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match.
