Fellows receive broad exposure to all areas of pediatric hematology/oncology, including sickle cell disease, thalassemias, nutritional anemias, bleeding disorders, hypercoagulable states, leukemias, lymphomas, solid tumors (e.g., sarcomas, retinoblastoma, neuroblastoma), and various brain tumors.
- Training includes direct care in inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology clinics, bone marrow transplant services (both autologous and allogeneic), and a comprehensive survivorship clinic. A significant emphasis is placed on research skills, with fellows spending the majority of their second and third years conducting original research projects with mentorship from faculty and access to the Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research as well as affiliated institutions such as the University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University.
