The General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Memphis, provides five years of comprehensive training in the evaluation and surgical management of patients across a wide range of conditions. Residents gain progressive experience in general surgery, trauma, surgical oncology, transplantation, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, pediatric surgery, burns, endocrine surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. Training is provided across multiple affiliated hospitals in Memphis, with opportunities for research, clinical conferences, simulation, and multidisciplinary care. The program prepares residents for independent surgical practice or further fellowship training in a surgical subspecialty.
