Fellowship Program in Breast Imaging

The Breast Imaging Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine is a one-year clinical fellowship providing comprehensive, high-volume training in all aspects of breast imaging, including digital mammography, tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided procedures. Fellows gain hands-on experience in stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies, fine-needle aspiration, cyst aspiration, lesion localization, and MR-guided biopsy, while working closely with breast surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pathologists. The program also includes multidisciplinary tumor boards, advanced breast imaging lectures, resident and medical student teaching, and opportunities for research projects.

1. Complete the UCSF online fellowship application; paper or direct email applications are not accepted
2. Submit a current CV
3. Submit a personal statement describing career goals and plans
4. Upload a digital headshot
5. Submit USMLE/COMLEX score reports or equivalent
6. Provide 3 current letters of recommendation, including one from the current program director; up to 5 letters may be submitted
7. Ensure all application materials are complete before submission
8. Applications are reviewed based on the strength of the completed application
9. Selected candidates are invited for a personal interview
10. Breast Imaging participates in the NRMP Match; applicants should register with NRMP and follow its schedule for interviews, ranking, and position offers
11. Final appointment is subject to successful credentialing, licensing, and employment/visa requirements
