Eligibility Criteria

MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
Completion of an appropriate Neurology residency before starting the fellowship.
Applicants must meet the UMass Chan/UMass Memorial GME credentialing requirements.
Candidates must be eligible for the required Massachusetts medical license.
For International Medical Graduates (IMGs), a valid ECFMG certificate and required USMLE qualifications are necessary. For a PGY-3 or higher position, USMLE Step 3 must be passed before the date of hire.
Non-U.S. citizens must meet UMass requirements for an appropriate J-1, F-1 or H-1B visa, where applicable.

About Course

The Vascular Neurology Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School provides intensive clinical training in the diagnosis and management of acute stroke and cerebrovascular disorders. Fellows receive training through a dedicated stroke service, outpatient vascular neurology clinic, neurocritical care, neurosonology, cardiac echocardiography, neurorehabilitation and telestroke services. The program also includes weekly cerebrovascular conferences, fellow didactics, journal clubs, clinical research and elective opportunities, with dedicated research time and exposure to clinical trials.

Admission Process

Review eligibility for the Vascular Neurology Fellowship and Massachusetts medical licensure.
Apply through the applicable application system; UMass states that programs participating in ERAS require applications through ERAS, while non-ERAS programs use the UMass GME application.
Submit the required application and supporting documents as specified by the fellowship.
The fellowship program reviews applications and selects candidates for interview.
Participate in the fellowship interview/selection process.
Complete the applicable Match process, if required by the program.
Selected candidates complete GME credentialing, Massachusetts medical licensing and employee-health requirements before appointment.
Join the 1-year Vascular Neurology Fellowship at UMass Chan/UMass Memorial Medical Center. The program offers two positions annually.
