The Fellowship in Vascular Neurology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn is a 1-year ACGME-accredited advanced fellowship program focused on comprehensive training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cerebrovascular diseases and stroke-related disorders. The fellowship provides extensive clinical exposure in acute stroke care, inpatient stroke unit management, outpatient stroke clinics, cerebrovascular consultations, stroke prevention, neurovascular imaging, carotid ultrasound, transcranial Doppler, digital subtraction angiography, and telestroke services. Fellows actively participate in stroke emergencies, ICU rounds, multidisciplinary patient care, clinical trials, and research activities under faculty mentorship. The program prepares physicians for advanced practice in Vascular Neurology/Stroke Medicine and fulfills the training requirements for the ABPN Vascular Neurology subspecialty certification examination.
