Fellowship in Rheumatology

The Rheumatology Fellowship Program at UCSF School of Medicine is an ACGME-accredited advanced fellowship program designed to train physicians in clinical rheumatology, research, medical education, and academic leadership. The program provides comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of autoimmune and rheumatic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, scleroderma, inflammatory arthritis, myositis, osteoporosis, and other connective tissue disorders. Fellows receive clinical experience through inpatient consultations and outpatient specialty clinics across UCSF Health, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and San Francisco VA Medical Center. The curriculum includes core rheumatology training, musculoskeletal ultrasound, multidisciplinary care, research projects, quality improvement activities, teaching opportunities, and specialized elective clinics such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, scleroderma, pediatric rheumatology, and sports medicine. The fellowship offers both a two-year clinical track and a three-year research track, preparing graduates for careers as expert rheumatologists, clinician-educators, and physician-scientists.
