Fellowship in Rheumatology

The Rheumatology Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine, Irvine is a two-year ACGME-accredited clinical fellowship program designed to provide advanced training in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of rheumatic, autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders. The program offers comprehensive clinical exposure to conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, scleroderma, inflammatory myopathies, gout, and other complex autoimmune diseases. Fellows gain hands-on experience through inpatient consultations, outpatient rheumatology clinics, and multidisciplinary care at UC Irvine Medical Center and VA Long Beach Healthcare System. The fellowship also provides training in specialized areas including musculoskeletal ultrasound, clinical research, evidence-based medicine, and academic activities to prepare physicians for independent practice and careers in academic rheumatology.

2. Search and apply for UC Irvine Rheumatology Fellowship Program through ERAS (Accreditation ID: 1500521108)
3. Register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for fellowship selection
4. Submit required application documents through ERAS:

• ERAS application form
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Personal Statement
• MSPE/Dean’s Letter
• Medical school diploma
• USMLE/COMLEX score reports
• Three Letters of Recommendation (including Internal Medicine Program Director letter)
• ECFMG Certificate (for IMGs)

1. Applications must be completed by the second Friday in August
2. Applications are reviewed by the fellowship selection committee
3. Selected candidates are invited for interviews
4. Final candidates are selected through the NRMP Match process
