Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care

The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is a three-year, fully accredited fellowship designed to train physicians in the comprehensive care of critically ill children. Fellows receive extensive clinical training in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Children’s Hospital Colorado, along with experience in pediatric anesthesia, patient transport, simulation, point-of-care ultrasound, and multidisciplinary critical care. The program also provides structured education, clinical electives, leadership and teaching development, quality improvement, and substantial opportunities for basic, translational, clinical, and medical education research throughout all three years.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
2. Submit a complete ERAS application for consideration
3. Letters of support from Pediatric Critical Care Medicine supervising physicians are strongly recommended
4. Completed applications are screened, and selected applicants are invited for virtual interviews
5. The interview season generally runs from September through November
6. Applicants are selected through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match, which takes place in the fall
7. For the 2026–27 cycle, ERAS applications can be submitted from July 1, 2026, programs begin reviewing applications on July 15, 2026, and NRMP Match Day is December 2, 2026
