Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care

The Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at UC Irvine School of Medicine is an ACGME-accredited, multidisciplinary training program designed to develop expertise in managing critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Conducted in collaboration with leading pediatric centers such as CHOC, the program provides extensive hands-on clinical experience in high-acuity environments like the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), where fellows manage complex conditions including respiratory failure, septic shock, trauma, and post-operative complications. The curriculum emphasizes advanced critical care skills such as mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and resuscitation, while also integrating evidence-based practice, research, and teaching. Fellows are trained to work within multidisciplinary teams and progressively take on leadership roles, preparing them for careers as pediatric intensivists in academic institutions or tertiary care hospitals.
