Fellowship in Nephrology

1. MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
2. Successful completion of an Internal Medicine residency before starting the fellowship.
3. Candidates must meet the applicable UMass Chan GME eligibility and credentialing requirements.
4. Candidates must satisfy the requirements for Massachusetts medical licensure.
5. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must meet the applicable U.S. postgraduate training, ECFMG certification, visa and licensing requirements.

The Nephrology Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School provides comprehensive clinical and academic training in the diagnosis and management of kidney diseases. Fellows gain experience in inpatient and outpatient nephrology, dialysis, kidney transplantation, critical care nephrology, kidney biopsy, renal imaging, renal pathology and pediatric nephrology. The program also provides opportunities for clinical research, quality improvement, teaching and scholarly activities, with progressive responsibility under experienced faculty supervision.

1. Review the Nephrology Fellowship eligibility and application requirements.
2. Submit the fellowship application through the applicable ERAS/application system.
3. Submit required supporting documents, including academic and residency information and recommendation letters.
4. The fellowship program reviews applications and shortlists eligible candidates.
5. Shortlisted candidates are invited to participate in the interview process.
6. Participate in the applicable Nephrology Fellowship Match/selection process.
7. Selected candidates complete UMass Chan GME credentialing, licensing and appointment formalities.
8. Begin the 2-year Nephrology Fellowship according to the program schedule.
