Fellowship in Nephrology

1. Candidates must have completed an Internal Medicine residency before beginning the Nephrology Fellowship.
2. Candidates must hold a medical degree from a qualifying medical school. Cedars-Sinai accepts graduates of accredited United States/Canadian medical schools and graduates of international medical schools listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, provided they meet the additional certification or licensure requirements.
3. International medical graduates must have current Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification or full and unrestricted United States medical licensure in the applicable jurisdiction.
4. Candidates must satisfy any additional eligibility requirements applicable to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Nephrology Fellowship.
5. Candidates should have appropriate clinical training and an interest in nephrology, including dialysis, transplantation and management of complex renal diseases.

The Nephrology Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a two-year advanced training program that provides comprehensive clinical and academic training in the diagnosis and management of kidney diseases. Fellows gain experience in inpatient and outpatient nephrology, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, apheresis, kidney transplantation, renal pathology, renal genetics, and glomerular diseases. The program also provides opportunities for clinical research, conferences, journal clubs, and multidisciplinary case discussions, helping fellows develop advanced expertise in the evaluation and treatment of complex renal conditions.

1. Complete the required Internal Medicine residency training before entering the Nephrology Fellowship.
2. Submit the required fellowship application and supporting documents through the application process designated by the program.
3. The fellowship program reviews applicants based on their training, academic credentials, clinical preparation and suitability for nephrology training.
4. Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview.
5. Selected applicants complete the required Cedars-Sinai and Kaiser Permanente credentialing and onboarding requirements before starting the fellowship.
6. The program accepts four first-year fellows annually and the fellowship is a two-year program.
