Fellowship in Nephrology

1. Completion of an Internal Medicine residency program.
2. Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
3. Submit a complete application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
4. Submit the Common Application Form and Personal Goals Statement.
5. Submit medical school transcripts and the Dean’s Letter.
6. Submit three letters of recommendation.
7. Submit the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) transcripts.
8. International medical graduates must submit an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Status Report.
9. Applicants requiring a visa: Harbor-UCLA accepts J-1 visas but does not accept H-1B visas.

The Nephrology Fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center offers comprehensive training in general nephrology, critical care nephrology, dialysis, kidney transplantation, hypertension, and interventional nephrology. Fellows gain clinical experience in inpatient consultations, continuous renal replacement therapy, outpatient nephrology, home dialysis, vascular access procedures, and kidney biopsy. The program also provides training in dialysis medical directorship, value-based kidney care, and physician leadership. Research opportunities include clinical and translational research, epidemiology, and basic science, with flexibility to follow either a traditional two-year clinical track or a three-year-or-more combined clinical and research track.
