Fellowship in Nephrology

1. Must be a physician
2. Must have successfully completed the required ACGME general Nephrology clinical training
3. Must have satisfied the training obligations required for general nephrology fellowship before entering the transplant nephrology fellowship
4. Applicants must meet the applicable University of Colorado School of Medicine GME eligibility requirements
5. Fellows entering CU Anschutz GME programs must have successfully completed USMLE Step 3, COMLEX Level 3, or Canadian LMCC before starting the fellowship

The Transplant Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is an AST-accredited fellowship providing comprehensive advanced training in all aspects of transplant nephrology. The program offers both a 1-year clinical track and a 2-year research track. Fellows receive balanced inpatient and outpatient training at a high-volume transplant center performing more than 300 kidney and kidney-pancreas transplants annually. Training includes pre-transplant donor and recipient evaluation, post-transplant immunosuppression, graft dysfunction, desensitization, paired exchange, protocol biopsies, tissue typing, and transplant infectious diseases and pathology. Fellows also participate in multidisciplinary transplant rounds, donor/waitlist/recipient selection meetings, case and pathology conferences, journal clubs, and clinical or translational research projects.

1. Complete the required general Nephrology fellowship training
2. Submit an application through the University of Colorado Transplant Nephrology Fellowship application
3. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis
4. The program aims to fill the fellowship position by November for the following academic year
5. One transplant nephrology fellow is accepted each academic year
6. Applications are reviewed by the program, and selected candidates proceed through the program's selection process
