The Combined Internal Medicine–Pediatrics Urban Health Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is a 4-year ACGME-accredited residency that integrates training in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics with a strong focus on urban health and underserved populations. Residents complete 24 months in internal medicine and 24 months in pediatrics, rotating between the two specialties every few months while gaining experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The program emphasizes primary care, continuity clinics, and community-based training, preparing physicians to care for patients across the entire lifespan—from infants to adults—while addressing health disparities and social determinants of health in urban communities. It also includes a dedicated urban health curriculum, mentorship, and leadership development, enabling graduates to become physician leaders, advocates, and educators in primary care and public health-focused careers.
